Have you ever knitted A sock and never finished the 2nd one? That's called 2nd sock syndrome. And I've got it bad! That's why I'm excited about our 2 socks on 2 circular needles class. We'll teach you how to knit 2 socks at the same time. And when you're done, you're DONE....with TWO socks.

1 size circular needle, 24" and 1 same size circular needle 32"
2 skeins of sock yarn or one large skein divided
2 double point needles

Saturday- February 9th @ 1:00pm-Cableology I with Jennifer Hagan of Figheadh Knits

Folks, our favorite designer is back and teaching her favorite technique. Jennifer is teaching a Basic Cables Saturday, February 2nd at 1pm. We will take cable knitting from the ground up, learning cabling with knit stitches. The class includes a headband pattern and a hefty handout with information on definition, history, classifications, characteristics, gauge, interpretation of charts, symbols and written directions, and so much more! There are even directions for practice swatches to prepare for the next level. If you’ve never tried cables, or if you’ve just not been satisfied with your cabling results, join us for this class and you’ll feel more confident with this technique.

Saturday- February 16th & March 2nd (Part 1 & 2)- MAGIC LOOP SOCKS @ 1:00pm

This a a beginner class for knitting one sock on one circular needle. It's is a fun & easy way to knit sox!

This is a 2 part class. The second class is on March 1st at 1pm.

February 18th - Sock of the Month Club- 6-7:30 (every 3rd Monday)

SOTM: Sock of the Month Club meets once a month on the 3rd Monday from 6-7:30pm. The cost is $35 each month and includes a pattern, a skein of the finest of sock yarn and 1.5 hours of instruction. Here’s the tricky part so listen closely. You do NOT have to attend club meetings but if you do you’ll receive a free skein of sock yarn after 6
punches. Uh…ahem…I mean punches on your attendance card. The purpose of
the club is to stretch and challenge sock knitters to new heights. You’ll be
introduced to lace, argyle, fancy rib stitching, knee-highs, stockings and much
more. We’ll announce the featured pattern at the beginning of each month. You
may sign-up at any time. Heck. You can even skip a month or two. To join the SOTM Club
you would have had to have knit socks previously.

Saturday- February 23rd @ 1:00pm-Cableology II with Jennifer Hagan of Figheadh Knits

Cableology II

Jennifer is teaching a Intermediate Cables Saturday, February 9th at 1pm. This is an Intermediate Cables class. We will build on the knowledge gained in the beginner class by introducing twists, traveling cables, and cables using increases and decreases. We will also learn about three-part cables, cables with odd numbered total stitches and even cabling without a cable needle. The class includes a headband pattern and helpful class handout with practice swatches for moving on up to advanced level cabling. If you want to go further with your cables, you’ll enjoy this class.

Sunday- February 24th @ 1:00pm-2pm Free twining workshop
with Lisa Ellis

2-end knitting or twining (as seen and taught at Madrona Fiber Arts)
is popping up everywhere. This long lost art is beautiful on the
inside and out, soft and wind resistant - ideal for Northwest weather.
Lisa Ellis of Lisa Ellis Designs has created a workshop on twined
knitting using her basic twined hat pattern. The workshop is free,
however registration is required. Supplies needed: #9 (16" length)
circular needles, stitch marker, the Basic Twined hat pattern and one
skein of Crystal Palace "Taos" (all sizes). Lisa will jump start us with
a creative cast-on and get us working on the twined ribbing for our hats.
For those wishing to try the Andean Hat pattern, Lisa will also demonstrate
and walk us through twining in 2 colors while creating ear flaps at the
same time. You won't want to miss this demonstration.


Saturday, Feb 23rd is Movie Night from 5-7pm.

February 16th - Christian Prayer Shawl Ministry (every 3rd Saturday)

The Christian Prayer Shawl Ministry of Pierce County will meet monthly at Yorkshire Yarns, on the third Saturday's from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. We will be knitting and crocheting prayer shawls to comfort those in need of love and support. You may make a prayer shawl for someone you know or donate a prayer shawl through this ministry to a local agency or church to distribute. Bring your own yarn, needles/hook, and pattern; or we can help you find supplies and a pattern at the shop. We hope to see you on September 15th at 9:30 am for our first meeting!
